Brief Biography of the guest editor:
Born in 1954 in Brno, Czech Republic. Graduated in solid state physics from the
Faculty of Science of the J. E. Purkyne University (recently Masaryk University)
in Brno, Czech Republic, in July 1979. Doctoral thesis (RNDr.) defended in
theoretical physics at the Faculty of Science of the J. E. Purkyne University
(recently Masaryk University) in Brno, Czech Republic, and in November 1979
received the RNDr. degree. In 1983 received CSc. degree (equivalent of the
recent PhD degree) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles
University in Prague. Since 1983 with the Department of Microelectronics of the
Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, the Brno University of
Technology. His professional interests are: physical principles of semiconductor
devices, microstructures, nanostructures, photonic devices, mathematical
modeling and simulation;
